St. Jakob
3 yo Perch x Fresian turning grey gelding. Very fancy horse - elegant and refined; and he has, for a draftcross, an absolutely lovely head. He is currently 16 H and will mature 16.1 or 2. He has a wonderful, unflappable disposition - if he is unsure of something, he stops. He is kind, quiet and wanting to please. He is well started and hacking out by himself without a fuss. You could not ask for a better combination in terms of looks and mind. He will be well suited to dressage - he has a huge hind step and a lot of reach up front but don’t overlook him for jumping as one of the best jumpers we ever had was a Fresian x Percheron. He will be a standout at whatever he does. A really quiet horse just waiting for a lifetime partner, don’t miss him.
Thanks to Mary Syms of Maryland for her purchase of the great guy.

Chyna
Beauty, Brains & Talent! This horse truly has it all: She is beautifully refined, a true black, a huge floaty mover and, best of all, she’s so quiet it’s hard to believe. A 4 yo Percheron cross mare that is 16H, she is just such a lovely type with good bone and foot but not the least bit heavy. She is a gorgeous mover with a floaty, comfortable trot but it’s her mind that has surprised us all. Takes any thing in stride in the ring or hacking out, kind and quiet in the barn, stands for the vet, farrier, stands tied, bathes, loads, clips, etc., etc. Kids can play under her belly in the barn aisle without her flicking an ear. Horses with this kind of mind don’t come along that often, whatever you would like to do – dressage, hunt, event, don’t miss this prospect.
Thanks to Drs. Eric & Margo Clegg (again!) for their purchase of this wonderful mare. I hope you enjoy her as much as I did.

Bally-Duff
Exquisite is the word that comes to mind when you watch this horse. He is a 4 yo warmblood x ¼ Clyde with three whites who stands around 16.1H+. He is refined while still having good bone and substance and is a lovely mover who could do anything. He’s quiet and kind and is the most awesome jumper. We bought this horse as a weanling because he was related to another horse we sold – (see Paddy on the Gallery of Sold Horses) and he is proving worth the wait. He has started his eventing career and was 2nd in his first CT, with scores in the mid-30 in dressage! The judge loved him, commenting on what a nice horse he was. He really likes to jump - he’s easy to stay with over a fence, brave and learns quickly. He has schooled water, banks & ditches, done a couple of hunter paces and is beginning to event in earnest. He’ll be well suited for dressage or jumping or will be a fabulous field hunter. Don’t miss this elegant guy.
Thanks to Gina Guffy and her trainer Michele of Begin Again Farm for her purchase of this wonderful horse – the farm’s second!.

Highlander's Donegal
Highlander's Donegal A 16H, 4 yo Belgian cross gelding who is very cool. While he’s a bit of a heavier type he is a fabulous light mover who is very attractive with his coloring and high white stockings and blaze. He’s a light mover for his size and nicely forward. His flat work is really coming along and he’s starting to go in a nice frame. He’ll be loads of fun out hunting or lower level eventing. He will be able to carry weight but will also be suitable for a lighter rider. He hunted a few times this spring with the second flight and is starting his jump training. He’s got an excellent form over fences and is very brave. He’s a fun and easy horse whose athleticism will surprise you. Donny has been out on hunt rides with 40+ horses and was a star. He’s also been to a jumper show. He’s going to be a fabulous fox hunter!
Thanks to Deanne Hertzog for her purchase of this sweet boy.

Samuel
16H 7 yo Bel x gelding. Mahogany bay with 2 socks and a blaze. Here is a solid gelding with the temperament adult amateurs want, just a really quiet, sensible horse. He is short coupled with a high set neck and is very uphill; bred like Bentley (see Gallery of Sold Horses) he has the same incredible canter. We could have sold Bentley three times and this horse is the same. Sweet, quiet and athletic. Nothing much bothers this guy, take him anywhere, it’s like old hat to him. He’s easy in the barn, good for the vet, farrier, stands tied, loads, etc. Just needs a little brushing up on his flat work and he’ll be ready for a dressage show. He has a big, bouncy trot and a huge elevated canter. Whether you want a confidence builder, or a serious competitor, this guy can fit the bill. He will be exactly want you want in a horse – a true partner.
Thanks to Toni Egger (again!) and her husband Rob Taylor for taking Samuel. I could not wish for a more perfect home for him.

Pinky
This 5 yo, 16H TB mare offers you a world of possibilities. She is so quiet that she is suitable for a novice rider. She is a lovely mover and very suitable for dressage or eventing. Her owner, breeder, trainer has evented advanced and started her absolutely correctly. She hacks out, has started jumping little X’s and has faultless barn manners. You won’t find many young TBs with her looks, movement and absolutely delightful disposition - she is a very special prospect, suitable for an amateur or professional. A horse to fall in love with. |
Diana!
Diana! 17.1H, 8 yo Bel x TB mare. The horse of a lifetime. This extraordinary mare will stop you in your tracks. Built very uphill, with the most beautiful head and huge kind eye, she just electrifies everyone. No one, not even top dressage clinicians could guess her lineage – looking more like a warmblood than most warmbloods these days, she absolutely floats across the ground and her big rolling canter is like a cruise ship on an ocean without any waves. he is amazing to behold but her movement and looks are only part of the story. She is as kind and quiet under saddle as a school pony, very willing and eager to work, yet quiet and very trainable. This mare has had years of serious dressage training with top riders and is equally suitable for the upwardly mobile professional or an amateur wanting to learn. Solid at first level, she is beginning second level movements such as half pass at the trot and canter. She will make the most novice of rider look good. This mare can hack out with a child; she is so quiet she has virtually no spook. Her work ethic is unmatched - she is trainable, sensible and responsive. She also has a stunning natural form over fences and with a little work, could easily show jumpers or fox hunt. You could spend a whole heck of a lot more money and not get half the horse this mare is. If you’ve been waiting for the horse that could take you up the levels yet be easy enough that your trainer would not have to ride it first, this is absolutely the horse for your. Truly a rare find. |
Banderas
“Tony” is a 4yo Perch x TB gelding that really looks the part. A very classic solid bay with one sock, this 16.2H gelding has a lot of TB to his looks: Medium bone with a lot of leg, he is a nice correct mover that is built very uphill. I’ve had ¾ bred horses that were heavier than him, so he is very refined. He only looks TB however - he definitely does not act it as he is dead, dead, dead quiet - really! Just so agreeable and kind with such a sensible nature. We have made our reputation on selling a lot of quiet, trainable horses, but what this horse has you can’t train into them. His innate temperament is so quiet that it’s very special. He is an absolute doll in the barn, and a perfect gentleman in every way. He is going well at walk, trot, canter and we hope to have him out second flight with the hounds this winter. If he takes to hunting like he has taken to everything else, he’ll be made in no time. This is a lovely, refined, elegant horse with an “aged gelding” disposition. Don’t miss him.
Thanks to Liz Blue of Butler, MD for her purchase of this absolute sweetheart

Timothy
Tim is a 4 yo Belgian x Paint gelding that is bred like several horses we sold last year – Jemimah and Willamena. A 16.1H solid chestnut with a blaze, he did not get their color, but he did get their wonderful, laid-back temperament. He is a nice, correct mover, with a quality refined look to him. He is built up hill and is fairly short backed so he is a nice balanced package. He is well started and an absolute peach. He loves to hack! And nothing much seems to bother him on the trail by himself. He is coming along nicely with his flat work and impresses us with his light movement. Everything about him is light, his canter(which is outstanding and very comfortable), his jump – soft off the ground and a light landing. He is definitely a superior mover and will surprise you when you sit on him. A lovely, refined, well started young prospect with a world of potential to him.
Thanks to Lucy Wallace (again!) of Crozier, VA for her purchase of this lovely young gelding. IF he’s as nice as his sisters, he’ll be your new favorite horse.

Ruger
Stand out from the crowd! Why be ordinary when you can be extraordinary on this horse. A true black (so black he looks blue) with four socks and a blaze, he is nothing short of dazzling. This five year old Warmblood cross gelding will knock your socks off! He is 16.2H and built dramatically uphill, short coupled with a lot of leg so he has tremendous reach behind. His trot is so suspended that you will catch your breath watching him – all of his gaits practically scream dressage. This horse will go up through the levels. He is beginning his jump schooling and is an absolute natural; he is extraordinarily good with his front end, unfailing honest and brave. We think he will be a spectacular event horse or could show in the Jumpers. He is by Kodachrome, a son of Art Deco and out of a Clyde x TB mare which gave him his amazing, laid back temperament. If you are looking for flash, potential for the very highest levels, but a temperament that lends itself to quiet hacks, do not miss this horse. He is beautiful, striking and gorgeous – definitely one of a kind.
Thank you again (its her second Dundulk horse) to Rebecca Sherer for her purchase of this extraordinary horse. We’ll see you out eventing!

Bentley
What A Pleasure! this young horse is to hunt. A 4 yo 16H solid bay Belgian x TB gelding who started both his eventing career and foxhunting the month of October and has amazed everyone with his demeanor. By the fourth time he hunted second flight, he was basically made – he stands quietly at checks, canters politely, he never hangs or pulls, just lengthens his stride to go faster. He has the most amazing canter, soft and light and “up”. He’s so light – a true ladies hunter. He contested his first starter horse trial to a 3rd place finish. He scored a 36 in dressage, had one stop in stadium (first fence – he clearly did not know what he was in there for) and was clean x-country! It’s hard to say what recommends him more, his flat work or his jumping. He has really good rhythm & cadence in all three gaits but his canter is to die for. It’s very up and light and is such a pleasure to ride, nothing earth-bound about it. Bentley loves to jump and is apparently part fish as we took him to a cross country school before the event and he leapt into the water the first time and each succeeding time thereafter. He also did the ditch and up and down banks the first time. He is very stylish over fences and easy to stay with. This is a smaller, more refined horse that has a ton of talent. He will make a super event horse or a lovely foxhunter. If you just want to trail ride or do dressage, he’ll be equally suitable.
Thanks to Toni Egger of Castleton, Va for her purchase of this dear horse. Hope to see you out hunting one day.

Abbi Rose
What a well put up mare this is! This 5 yo 16.3H, Clyde x WB x TB mare is just stunning. With her strawberry roan coloring, blond mane & tail and four high whites she will absolutely stop traffic. She is well balanced, built extremely up hill and is that perfect type - substantive without being the least bit heavy. Everything about her says WOW! She moves like a cat on the prowl, when you see her, you won’t be able to resist. Whether you are going down the center line in the dressage ring or show up on her in the hunt field, people are going to look. She was lightly started as a 4 yo, then her owner went to college and she sat for a year. We are starting from scratch with her and are very pleased with her temperament and manners. It is really, really difficult to find horses that have good bone without being heavy or coarse and she is a shining example of this type.
This horse sold so fast we did not even get pics of her under saddle posted. After 45 days under tack, she was hunting first flight with Green Spring and jumping 4’ fences with ease. Thanks to Joe Meyerhoff II of Glyndon, MD for his purchase of this spectacular mare – he obviously knows a good horse when he sees it.

Cymbaline
Absolutely stunning – words can’t do her justice. 3 yo black Clyde x TB filly with four high whites. As gorgeous as she is, her looks are only half the picture; wait till you see her move! This beautiful mare is quiet and a true pleasure to handle. But her gaits are what really recommend her. She has a lovely trot and is naturally free and soft in her back. Her canter is delightful and she is light and soft in your hand. This mare wants to bond with you and once she trusts – she will do anything for you. We think she has absolutely unlimited talent for dressage. She is out of the good TB stallion, Mr. Hydro and everything we have had by him could really jump. She is lightly started at w/t/c and is ready to go on in any discipline. She’s extremely refined, quiet and will absolutely stop traffic. She is quite possibly the nicest mare we have ever had. If you want an extraordinary standout for any discipline, do not miss this filly – she is incomparable.
Thank You to Michele Naish of Glyndon, MD for her purchase of this striking mare. |
Irish Granite
What everybody wants!
16.2H 7yo Perch x TB. This horse will be the best field hunter you will ever own. He is quiet in company, stands at checks, does not mind the hounds underfoot, he stops when the horse in front of him stops and jumps anything from a trot or canter-and jumps it well. He is an absolute dream over fences, easy to stay and easy to rate. Does not pull or get excited if there is a line, just waits his turn and trots quietly in. He will take the field or follow or whip. A big, classy, dappled 16.2H grey gelding with a good trot and rocking chair canter. At least three people asked me where In Ireland I got him from the first time I had him out cubbing. He already has two seasons of hunting under his belt, but he could do anything. We started lower level eventing with him this summer and he is always in the ribbons, never stops – does ditches, banks & water! He’s done a couple of jumper shows and he clocks around the 3’ division clean. Once he gets his changes and makes the time, he will be unbeatable as he never looks at a thing! He’s so quiet, he will take kids on a trail ride or take a master on the hunt field. He’s the type every one is looking for, good substantial bone without being heavy. A stunning individual that is as elegant as he is quiet. It’s really hard to find a horse with enough mileage to be considered made, but not so much that he shows wear and tear. This horse passed his pre-purchase with flying colors, is young enough to go on for over a dozen years and is old enough to get right into serious work. We rarely get them like this so don’t miss him. Currently cubbing with Blue Ridge Hunt
Thanks to Sheri & John Golitz of Wisconsin for their purchase of this amazing horse.

Riddler
3yo 16.1H,ClydexTBxWB gelding. Ridley has surprised us all. With his size, we expected him to take a while to find his balance but he is one of the most beautifully balanced horses we have ever started. He’s a light, floaty mover and has a superior canter. He’s even thrown in a flying change when asked. He’s already reaching for the bit and showing a nice engaged trot. He’s beautifully marked with four whites and a blaze and should easily mature 17H. He has ¼ warmblood in his pedigree and we believe he will be a special horse once he is finished growing. He’s super sweet, with a lovely, kind eye; the kind you fall for just looking at him. We firmly believe he’s going to be above average in his athletic ability. If you need a bigger horse, don’t pass this one by because he’s green, he’s going well at w/t/c and hacking out. He’ll be a standout in whatever he does.
Thanks to Michele Leasure of N. Salem New York for her purchase of this wonderful guy. |
Forrest
Cleveland Bay x TB coming 3 yo gelding. Flawless in his conformation, dazzling in his movement and calm and composed in his temperament, this is an outstanding prospect. He will probably mature around 16.3 and is nicely refined. He’s by the same sire as Silk Cut, a Cleveland Bay cross mare we sold a couple of months ago, he offers everything anyone could possibly want in a cross bred. Moves like a show hunter with big sweeping, balanced strides. Even at an age where most big horses show their worst, he has rhythm, balance and suspension. His personality is not to be believed; he has been well handled and clearly loves the whole human race. He follows you around and would come into the house if we let him. His ground manners are impeccable and he is an absolute pleasure to work around. He is lightly started under saddle and has proven to be quieter than we thought he could be. But his gaits are even better – you have to see him move! This horse could have a star-studded career in eventing, dressage, or the hunter/jumpers. Anything, we feel he could do absolutely anything. He is a serious prospect for the serious rider. We don’t get many like this!
Thanks to Liz Patrick (again!) of Waters Edge for her purchase of a second horse from us. We’ll look for him eventing!

Keep Kissing
(Sissy)
Keep Tryst’s full sister (looks exactly like him). The picture of her lying down was when she was literally minutes old. She is all legs and will be tall like her brother.
Thanks to Beth O’Rourke of West Wind Farm, Esmond, R.I. for her purchase of this very special filly. It was hard to let her go. |

Thanks to Liz Patrick of Waters Edge Farm, on her purchase of this extraordinary youngster. |
Butter Pecan
Want sweet? Want stylish? Want three really, really good gaits? Want dead quiet? Want EASY? Then this is the horse for you. . .Butter Pecan is a 4yo Belgian x TB mare who is 16.1H & is a seal bay with a white sock and a blaze. She’s quiet, she’s pretty and she has tons of potential. Rarely do we see a hind leg like hers. Tons of push from behind naturally, she’s light in your hand and light off your leg and her canter will astonish you. She is well started in the ring and has tons of trail mileage – nothing bothers her. She is good alone or in company and will make up into anything you would like her to be; she will be as suitable for the dressage ring as the hunt field or the event course. . She will be starting in the second field with Blue Ridge this fall. She is just such a lovely type; good bone and substance without being heavy. I’m embarrassed to say I looked at her as a three year old and did not buy her. I was amazed by her as a four year old and was lucky she was still available. Everything you could want in a draft cross with the looks of a warmblood. Don’t miss her.
Thanks to Liz Sheehan of Glyndon, MD for her purchase of this truly special young mare. We hope to see you on the hunt field.
